Week 9
Nutrisystem is the best way to start the week.
Here we are Week 9. Time is ticking and after being at a plateau for three weeks, this week has BIG results. It's been at least ten years since my weight has been in the ONE-derful and this week I busted into that milestone. That's right..bye, bye terrible two's, there's a new ME on the scale.
I think about my journey, not just the one I am on now, but the one that has taken me to a whopping 267 pounds. That girl is no longer the same me. I still struggle with food. I use it to replace sleep, to soothe hurt feelings, to celebrate the grandiose and to just lounge in boredom. These are all very difficult things to change, but slowly I'm doing it.
Exercise will never be something I love. I still hate it. My sister-in-law is an exercise junkie. It's what she does for a living. She has a lean body. That's not me.
In fact, a few months ago I told my mom I thought she had done me a great injustice. You see, my mom has ALWAYS been lean and trim. She had four children and not ONE stretch-mark. I never saw the woman exercise. She always made delicious meals, many with a base of cream sauce. Rich desserts like Pecan torte were the end of our meal time. I remember the first time I heard someone say, "If I eat that I'm going to have to go running." It blew me away. My mentality was what I had seen in my mom, I could eat whatever I wanted and still be a size 6 or 7.
I'm here to tell you that the journey from 100-200 pounds takes a long time. From 200-267 is virtually over-night. Who Knew?
Now I'm on the journey to get back to my healthy weight. It is far longer than the journey that bulked me up to Blubber! It's not nearly as fun either.
Nutrisystem is teaching me that I can be satisfied with portions that are not "super-sized". Banana Nut Muffins, or omelette's for breakfast. My favorite lunch right now is the Steak and Cheese Melt. It's filled with flavor and texture and satisfies my cravings.
The Nutrisystem Marketing team was dead on with their description:
The bakery-soft crust is packed with spicy roast beef, onions, green pepper and cheddar cheese, all in a rich, beefy gravy. This lunch is ready in just minutes in the microwave (or can also be prepared in a conventional oven), and with all the flavor of your favorite Philly cheesesteak, plus on-the-go-convenience, you'll have it all in the palm of your hand.
Even Li'l Man LOVES the food. For a week, he refused to eat anything except the Nutrisystem Italian Herb Flatbread Pizza
This is a pizza with authentic flavor in every bite. The golden crust is perfectly seasoned with a blend of savory Italian herbs and spices. It pairs perfectly with the rich tomato sauce and the grated Italian-style cheese. The pizza prepares in just minutes, and if you're feeling creative, you can add your own toppings, like onions, peppers or olives.
You know the food is good if a picky eating five year old calls dibs on it out of the box!
Here's my updated picture of my journey:
